Pastoral Scenes

About the Pastoral Collection

Pastoral art moves us closer to our agrarian beginnings as humans. It removes us emotionally from the angst of urban life, and encourages a pause, however brief, to a calmer and more basic level of human existence.

We all take pictures where we live; where we have the strongest ties to the landscape.  I’ve lived in or near rural areas for most of my 70 years, while never losing a deep appreciation for  the rolling hills, small town cross-roads,  quaint small farms and bucolic pastures, farming and farm equipment, and little stone churches so characteristic of rural landscapes.

This collection of rural art photographs represents my attempt to capture the quiet, pastoral sense of rural life.

Pastoral art photographs featuring rolling hills, small farms, curving fences, punctuating forests, and the beginnings of human civility.
